This week’s episode, which features Tangoe’s new Chief Marketing Officer, Jill Ransome, is a follow-up to the podcast’s “television debut” that took place during Tangoe’s July Town Hall. In that live and very brief interview, Jill answered only three questions: What do you do for fun? Why did you decide to join Tangoe? And how does Marketing help contribute to or impact company culture? But we were just warming up, and she agreed to be a guest on a future show—so here we are!
In this special, follow-up episode, Jill, who’s been with the organization less than one month, discusses the unusual interview process that she experienced with Tangoe, which I found especially interesting. She also shares her perceptions of our culture, as well as some of her immediate plans of action for Marketing.
Jill is a very selfless and courageous person. Think about being at a company just two weeks, then agreeing to appear on an impromptu live podcast episode during a company Town Hall, which is streamed online to over 2,000 employees globally.
Then, think about agreeing to be on this podcast, having been here less than one month, to talk about your perceptions of our organization, your on-boarding experience, and your plans for your department. It’s just amazing and inspiring. Plus, she’s also the first c-level employee to be featured on this show.
Some of the best ideas—in any department—come during those free-form and and often informal conversations with your colleagues, when you’re fleshing out an idea, or looking for feedback, or just talking through a problem. And in order to truly feel at liberty to share almost anything with your colleagues, and your managers especially, you need to feel comfortable, there needs to be mutual respect, and ultimately, you need to have a culture that is inviting—one that embraces and understands the value of having close, personal relationships with your team. From the 26 episodes I’ve completed so far, that seems to be the kind of culture that we absolutely want to embrace and nurture here at Tangoe. So thank you, Jill, for the reminder.
