Participating in the CommCare Wireless Recycling Program gives organizations unparalleled control over the "deconstruction" of their mobile devices by ensuring that all personal data will be removed or destroyed from the device (including, but not limited to, phonebook entries, personal codes, email addresses, personal addresses, IM addresses, photos and downloaded files) prior to the reuse, recycling, or disposal.

• Disposal or recycling includes all materials related to mobile devices (wireless handsets, accessories, batteries, cardboard, leather, paper, plastic) are disposed

• Each device collected is given a value (based on a published price list of devices, parts, and accessories) 

• Customers can use this income to offset the cost of new communications technologies, supplement charitable donations, or however they choose.

How it Works

• Customers contact their Tangoe representative when they have 10 devices or more for recycling

• Tangoe will provide the customer with postage-paid shipping labels or (for large shipments) arrange for a freight pick-up

• Collection reports will be provided indicating the number of cell phones received, certification that data has been removed or has been sent for destruction, and a listing of the value of each device.

• The customer will receive a monthly check based on the value of the devices recycled.
