Telecom expense management (TEM)
solutions provider Tangoe on Wednesday unveiled its
new CommCare WorldView managed services offering. This new solution enables
multi-national enterprises to view, report on and analyze spending on fixed and
mobile communications in a centralized manner.
In order to effectively help multi-national enterprises achieve in their TEM
objectives, Tangoe built into ComCare WorldView support for electronic billing
formats used by more than 200 communications carriers Latin America, North
America, EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa)
and APAC (Asia-Pacific).
Support for so many different formats is possible both
because Tangoe has amassed a large collection of “mappers” during the past
seven years or so, and because the company is partnering with Belgium-based
firm Tam Tam Consulting to obtain even more mappers, Tangoe Chairman Rick
Pontin told TMCnet.
For now, WorldView includes support for more than 200 electronic
formats. Tangoe plans to expand the solution later this year to include
processing of paper invoices as well, Pontin said.
The plethora of different electronic billing formats used
worldwide is part of what makes TEM a complex and involved process. Pontin said
that, although some standards have been proposed, the fact is each service
provider needs its own format to bill for specific services unique to its
portfolio.
WorldView, part of Tangoe’s CommCare solutions line launched
last September, is designed to address the billing formats challenge, along
with other inefficiencies heretofore associated with global TEM.
All of Tangoe’s TEM solutions provide consolidated and
integrated capabilities for bill capturing, viewing, reporting and analysis.
What makes CommCare WorldView unique is that these capabilities have been
expanded to a global scale. Companies that operate in more than one region of
the world can thus maintain efficient and unified TEM processes and are no
longer limited to using disparate solutions for each region.
Until now, Pontin said, addressing the TEM needs of
multi-national firms required creating custom solutions for each client.
“There was no standard product, there was no standard
formats in analytics and information that would be provided as part of the
service, there would be no standard pricing or delivery intervals,” Pontin told
TMCnet. “Effectively, any large enterprise that wanted global visibility into
their telecom expense management would get a custom solution.”
Targeted specifically at the Global 5000 firm, WorldView is
a standardized set of offers and services, with standard pricing and delivery
intervals (60-90 days). Customers can inquire and get a price quote within a
day. Plus, it is supported by Tangoe’s broader CommCare offerings.
“Our customers have been asking for this—a solution that
allows them to aggregate, consolidate and view global communications spend
independent of what region of the world it comes from,” Pontin said.
Pontin stressed that, although creating WorldView was not
that big a challenge for Tangoe because of the firm’s well-established
portfolio of technology and business intelligence, the new solution nonetheless
is unique in the TEM market.
“We're not aware of any company that offers a managed
service available globally with a single support structure and
easy-to-understand pricing and delivery,” he told TMCnet. “We believe this is
another example of Tangoe being first to market with an innovative solution
that customers want.”
